Program Overview

The One Year Residential Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) is a DG Shipping–approved pre-sea training program designed for candidates aspiring to become Deck Officers in the Merchant Navy. On successful completion of the diploma and subsequent sea training, candidates become eligible to pursue B.Sc. Nautical Science and progress toward certification as a Second Officer / Chief Mate / Master Mariner.

Fee Sponsorship

Underprivileged Categories

Students from underprivileged categories (annual family income below ₹8 lakh) who are selected by well reputed shipping companies will be eligible for full sponsorship of total education fees

Non-Underprivileged Categories

Students from non-underprivileged categories (annual family income more than ₹8 lakh) will be required to pay the total education fees

Eligibility Criteria (As per DG Shipping Norms)

Age Limit:

Maximum 25 years at the time of admission

Academic Qualifications:

Candidates must have successfully completed Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with:

Minimum 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM)
Minimum 50% marks in English either in 10th or 12th standard

Entrance Examination:

Qualifying IMUCET is mandatory for admission to this program

Medical Fitness:

Candidates must be medically fit as per DG Shipping standards
Vision standards include 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the other eye (unaided), with no color blindness

Selection Process

Step 1: Apply online through the official MANET Website

Step 2: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted for written tests, interviews, and medical examinations conducted by the sponsoring shipping companies

Step 3: Shipping companies will select candidates and issue a Sponsorship Letter

Step 4: Selected candidates must submit original academic documents to MANET for final verification prior to reporting to campus

Step 5: Admission will be confirmed upon payment of the first semester fees, except for underprivileged girl candidates who are selected by well reputed sponsoring shipping companies

Step 6: Candidates must report to the institute on the specified date for commencement of the course

Reporting date and time will be communicated to the selected candidates in advance
